Once in a Lifetime Experience

Ok, first of all, I had to write this post in English cuz there's no way I want my mom to get a heart attack when she finds out that... I got a bikini wax!!!

There are several reasons I decided to take this big adventure (and specially for someone as less pain tolerable as me!) but one of them is cuz bikini wax is EVERYWHERE in NY! It's just as much as hair salons you would find at every corner in Taipei. And actually, most hair salons here offer waxing as one of their services.

So after doing some research on the internet this morning, I found a good brazilian salon near our place where one of the "stylists" shows very high ranking reviews from her customers. I've called, made the appointment, then there I was... ready for some waxing adventure!

Honestly, I was so nervous for the first 15 minutes that I walked in...thinking what if my skin gets pealed off? what if it bleeds? what if I faint?..... (我本來就超膽小的). Anyways, it turned out to be quite a nice experience. After talking to the "stylist" (she's Russian btw, not Brazilian.... thought I would have been able to entertain myself by showing off my little Portuguese phrases that I know), she made me feel much more comfortable and less nervous. So...does it hurt? The answer is, yes, it does, but under a tolerable degree. Would I go back again? Yes....

Apparently, waxing is nothing as indifferent as getting a hair cut once a month. You get to change your "style" a bit every here and there. Pretty interesting!

Another option I've read on the internet is Laser Hair Removal, which is supposed to be less painful, (although I know in Taiwan the technology is more advanced, there's even 無痛laser in the market already. Those of you in Taiwan should totally take advantage of it!) but yet it doesn't guarantee that hair won't grow back. Based on the experience of people who commented on different websites they say lots of time hairs do grow back. Plus, the price of getting one laser session is almost ten times more expensive than getting one waxing (of course, if you calculate the frequency you gotta pay for both, getting laser might not turn out to be the most expensive one).

Anyways, I figured, if most girls can stand the pain....I should be able to handle it! So here I am, happy for the new look! Wooh ooh!

  3. It usually lasts three to four weeks, depending on the person. But the more you wax the thinner hairs become and you're suppose to feel less and less pain each time...
